The district 'health council bas asked for a meeting witb Ontario Minister of Health Larry Grossman to dis- -Edwards ava'ilable for 'anotber eight'years. The unit would allow for more active treat- ment beds at the Ajax- Pickering General Hospital whicb is exper- iencing severe over- crowding problems. At its meeting Mon- day night, Whitby Town Council doubled the maximum fine to $2,000. That is the maximum fine permissable under tbe Ontario Municipal Act. The fine maximum was raîsed upon a recommendation from town clerk Don McKay after the Ontario government passed an amendment to the act. In bis report, McKay said tbat in 1981 the town collected $3,505.20 in fines. About 30 of Bonerenko's works will be on display this month including many of bis Nova Scotia and Mexico Iandscapes. Also displayed are somhe of bis zinc-based etcbings. Seven of bis large "Potato"' paintings wil be in the exhibit and Bonder- enko says that he would like to do about 200of them. Where did he get bis inspiration'for the series? "I don't know," Bonder- enko replied. "I saw a potato sprout one day and decided to doit." Bonderenko, a native of London, Ontario, studied art at the H.B. Beal Secondary Sehool there between 1965-69. His work bas been exbibited not only inLondon but in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto. This is his first Whitby exhibit. Some of his work was selected for tbe Queen's Silver Jubilee Art Collection and is also part of collections beld by the University of WesternOntario, the Vancouver Art Gallery and the Canada Council Art Bank.
