This committee is a sub-committee of the board's management committee and will re- view all aspects of the new school including site, boundaries, etc. The board will also invite Durham West MPP and Ontario Mini- ster of Revenue George Ashe to the school hoping that it will lead to an interview with Education Minister Bet- te Stephenson. Denis O'Connor is one of the board's two high schools, the other being The Durham Region Roman Catholic Sep- arate School Board is considering three sites for a new Denis O'Con- nor High School. Of the three sites, two are in Whitby with one in Pickering Village. The potential loca- tions were mentioned in a staff report submitted to the board last week at a meeting held in the Giffard Street high school. The board has ap- pointed a committee to deal with site accommo- dation factors. The committee will include trustees Martin Dole- weerd (Whitby), Sally Longo (Ajax), Ivan Wallace (Oshawa) and Speaker CONT'D FROM PG. 9 with the presentation of her contest-winning speech entitled "1981" relating to the inter- national Year of the Dis- abled Person; and Lee Irwin who presented a most persuasive speech on her views of comm- ercialism during the holiday season. Evalua- tors for these speakers were Teresa Jean (secretary, Upper Canada); Shirley Mac- Donald (Whitby) and Yvonne Ayuen (past pres ident, Canada) respect mt Upper ively. Treasurer Pauline Torresan conducted draws for door prizes and for decorative cen- trepieces which were created by Marguerite Kulik.. The general evaluator for the entire evening was Ruth Ron- cetti (first vice-presi- dent, Upper Canada). The evening ended with a closing thought by Marguerite Kulik. The Whitby Club par- ticipated in the Santa Claus parade on Satur- day, December 5. Riding with us on the float was our mascot - a Paul Dwyer High School in Oshawa, and has a student population of 280.
