The club was represented by five swimmers at the Youth Cup Meet in Eto- bicoke December 12. This high calibre com- petition saw clubs from every province across Whitby In the first game in the House League Atom Division, Warren Mil- burn opened up the score after 5 minutes of play to put Whitby ahead 1 to O. Ajax tried bard and pressed for the tying goal but it was Luigi Pepe who put Whitby ahead by 2 goals in the lSth minute. Just before the fîrst baîf was over Kevin Purlocks put Ajax on the scoreboard to end the first half 2 to 1 for whtby. in the second haif the two teams came close to score and it was Warren Milburn with bis second goal of the gamne to froquois Canada and several from the U.S. partici- pate. Janice Currie, Brent Walsh, Trevor Crump, Chris Donnelly and Kevin Walker swam for Whitby and al swimmers bettered or equalled their best times in their events. On the same day. W.I.S.C.'s novice swimmers swam at a split s ea make it 3 to 1 and Sheri Becker scored late in the game to end the game and give Whitby a 4 tol1win. The second game the Whitby bouse league team faced the Ajax Pee Wee Ail Star team. Santa Meet hosted by the York Swim Club and made their presence known in the ranks of the first year competi- tors. Sunday saw the W.I.S.C. team splash- downto another victory on the homefront when the club hosted a Confe- deration Meet compet- ing with Belleville, Port Hope and Pickering teams. W.I.S.C. remains un- defeated at home this season, and once again 10 year old Janice Currie reigned supreme by capturing five firsts in her events. Dominant in 10 and under boys events was Brent Walsh, while Dave Goulding collected Ison openers Ajax went ahead in less than 15 mi;nutes when Vic Refal, an ex- Whitby player, put the baîl in the net to end tbe first baîf Ajax 1 WÇvhitby nil. Brian Watson got the equalizer for Whitby with a bard shot from 15 feet in front of the net in the middle of the second baîf. Hugh Peterson scored for Ajax to give bis team a win and end the game Ajax 2 Whitby 1. Cedricks win two of three Ploughman 'A"s challenge for first place came to a dead stop this week as leaders Filling Station 'A' chopped then 9 to 2. Both Liverpool M-ms and Green Briar 'A' took full advantage of Ploughman's loss, Liverpool defeating Durham Arms 'B'1lOto 1 and Green Briar 'A' defeating Ploughman 'B' by the same 10 to 1 score. Cedricks 'A' had a very surprising 6 to 5 win over the strong FilI- ing Station 'B'. Cedricks 'C', the leagues ail ladies team, also provided an upset by beating Green Briar 'B' 6 to 5. Cedricks 'B' meanwhile were not s0 lucky, going down 8 to 3 to Durham Arms 'A'. Moodies Barons got into top gear for their match against bottom placed Bond Restaurant defeating them lO0to 1. top honors in Senior boys. Heather Ainsley, Chris Donnelly, and Trevor Crump gave strong performances in 11/12 age- group, along with Denise Vandole- weerd and Donna Goulding in 13/14 girls. The W.I.S.C. team next competes in mid- January at Markham. Other strong swim- mers in the meet were Jodi MacPhail who placed a first, two seconds, a third and fourth in her girls 10 and under category. Wendy Primeau picked up a first, third, fifth and sixth in her events. Boys 10 and under had a strong showing and along with Walsh, Mat- thew Cook placed a fir- st, fourth and fifth, Adrian Vargas picked up two seconds, a third and fourth and Craîg Potsep took a pair of seconds and thirds. Lesly Doran won a second through fifth place ribbons in her events and 11/12 year old mate Lisa Colbourne took a second, third and fourth. Crump and Donnelly dominated the boys 11/12 and Kevin Walker placed a first, second and three thirds in the, same age group. Tammy Oates took a second, third and two fifths in the girls 13/14 category while Neil Crump won a third and three fourths and Jari Ollilcainen took a second and a sixth place finish in the boys category. Top swimmer for the senior girls was Kelly Walker who captured a first, seconîd and fourth. Dave Goulding was the boys top senior swimmer.
