ATTERSLEY Mayor of the Town of Whitby Representing the people of the Town of Whitby as Mayor this past year has encompassed an insur- mountable workload and duties which I had cer- tainly anticipated. However, I was unaware of the many pleasures which make this position so fulfilling. During the past six weeks since my last column, I have enjoyed the added dimension of over 100 school age children as personal visitors along with a large number of ladies from the Toastmistress International. I wan- ted to share with you, the fine compliments we received as they toured the Municipal Building and the Office of the Mayor. I particularly appreciated the keen interest and inquisitiveness of the children and wish to thank each for their thoughtful thank you letters we received. Recently, I reported through the newsmedia, the excellent progressive development of our first nine months in 1981. With a 67.2 per cent increase in the value of building permits, we are certainly keeping a high profile in a competitive market place.
