Don McKay TOWN CLERK R. Attersley MAYOR Schedule 3 STATEMENT OF CONFORMITY TO THE OFFICIAL PLAN FOR THE REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY OF DURHAM 1, Mofeed Michael, the Chief Planning Officer of The Regional Municipality of Durham, have reviewed By-law 1244-81 of the Town of Whitby. I am of the opinion that this By-law is in conformity with the Official Plan in ef- fect for the Durham Planning Area. Dated this 23rd day of September, 1981. Dr. M. Michael, M.C.I.P. Commissioner of Planning Classified ads sell Cail 668-61 il value of $19,617,515. However, Attersley is quick to point out that the latest figures do not include the new Liquor Control Board of On- tario warehouse that is currently under con- struction. It has a value -of $81 million, bringing the Whitby total to over $113 million. "The figure does not include the liquor con- trol board warehouse," Attersley said last week, "so, no one can say we're padding it." The mayor said that the $32.8 is a "more true reflection of growth" in the town. According to a report authored by the town's public works depart- ment, 423 permits have been issued for the con- struction of single family residential units. The figure for the period in 1980 was 188. There have also been 76 permits given for semi-detached dwelling units as opposed to 74 for 1980. Permits have also been issued for 25 indus- trial, 30 commercial, 28 agricultural and 16 insti- tutional construction projects. In total, 691 resi- dential permits have been issued as of Sep- tember 31, 1981 which compares to 391 for the same period in 1980. The value of these permits is $26.3 million, up from last year's $12.6 million. The value for indus- trial properties is $2.6 million which is down from 1980's $5.9 million. However, the later figure includes the recent expansion of the Lake Ontario Steel Com- pany (LASCO) plant. The value for com- mercial construction is $2.6 million which is almost eight times more than 1980's $389,000. Even the month of September was a boom month for the town with permits issued seeing a 35 per cent increase over last year. The values for that month are up by 131 per cent to $3.8 million from $1.6 million. Attersley has ex- presed his pleasure with the growth describing it as a "godd cross- section" of develop- ment. "And we don't look to any major slowdowns for the rest of the year," he said adding, "We're a long way from project- ions.,, Attersley is also of the opinion that the growth is primarily due to "the positive outlook in Whitby." mmmummma
