WISC loses tourn-ament to Longueuil Orcas By ANN GOULDING .WISC Director. The Whitby Iroquois Swim Club met their match on the weekend in their fourth twinning competition with the Quebec Longueuil Orca Swim Team. The t wo teams bat- tling it out in Long- ueuil's new 50 metre pool were neck and neck throughout the com- petition, which was filled with close and ex- citing races in both in- dividual and relay even- ts. The final score found Whitby down 23 points, with Longueuil, winning the trophy for the first time 66Oto 637. Four WISC swimmers awarded high points trophies were Kim Walker, 15, Denise VanDoleweerd, 14), Janice Currie, 10, and Chris Donnelly, 10. The three top girls and boys giving im- pressive performances by dropping most seconds off their tiines were Kelly Faller, 10, Tina Doran, 10, Wendy Primeau, 8, Craig Pot- sep, 8, Lyle Brockman, 12, and Matthew Cook, 8. One of the WISC teams top scorers, Brian McAlinden, 13, was eliminated from further competition early in the meet with a pulled arm muscle. MeAlinden expects to be back in future competi- tions in a short time. The annual swim ex- change between the two teams bas resulted in a highly successful ex- change of camaderie and friendship between swimmers and parents as well and Whitby is looking forward to welcoming the Longueuil club back here next summer. The club extends its thanks to Pauline Oat- tes, meet manager, for her organization in arrangîng the meet and the Town of Whitby Recreation Department for making it ail possible. 1981 1981 1981 1981 WH ITBYBOSCU DISTRICT BOY SCOUTS: P AAY OCTOBER 23- 24
