ATTEND AND LEARN MORE THE TOWN,0F WHITBY eY ABOUT 4a This week I would like to get some reaction to a subject that was brought to my attention. 1 would like you to remember the following is just my opinion and not that of this publication. If you agree or disagree I would like to hear from you. WHAT DO YOU WANT??? Scugog Council is in favor of turning their two- year term into a three-year term. Ahl council mem- bers except one think it's a.good idea. This would mean no taxpayers' money would be spent on elec- tions every two years. It would also let new mem- bers get used to the municipal mnatters and it would give politicians an extra year for planning and following through on projects. Well that's ail fine if you're the politicians who were elected. But if you're looking at a three-year term from a ectizen's point of view the idea doesn't look as good. If council had a three-year term that would mean they could do a good job for one more year or if they were doing a poor job they would ha e an extra year to mess up and we couldn't do any- thing about it. In my own opinion I think if the coun- cil members are doing what they proniised they will be elected again. I don't mind paying for. an election every two years. As for having more time to carry through on projects, does that, mean the island road or the library? To me it seems if they can't get something done in two years, how are they going to get it done in three? I would like to get your opinion on this matter. Af- ter ail, I'm only one person. Your thoughts and ideas are what counts. CONGRATULATIONS Hilda and Ed Micheli celebrated their 5th Wed- ding Anniversary at their home on Stephenson Point Road, Scugog Island, on Septemnber 5,1981.
