Since that time, several groups and in- dividuals have requested we have a special showing open to the public. This bas now been arranged in conjunction with the County Town Carnival and will be presented at the Iroquois Park Arena on Satur- day, August 1, 1981 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. The co-ordination of this presentation involved many industries; churches; sehools and groups (one of which, 1 would especially like to recognize for their contribution... .The Whitby Historical Society). Music was added to the three slide dimen- sion through changing scenes of Whitby and creates an emotional effect especially for residents living in Whitby - their town! Try not to miss viewing Whitby on the big 36 foot screen - I arn certain you wiIl agree with me, it is a great presentation. The promotional aspect of Whitby is making its mark across the Province of Ontario. The week of August 10 to 15, Whitby will be taking top billing in the Ministry of Industry and Tourism Iocated in the Eatons Centre, Toronto. We anticipate approxi- mately 5,000 visitors a day dropping by to become acquainted with Whitby through staff; displays; brochure hand-outs and two film presentations. One of the two films will be on the King Region of On- tario - Durham. Opening the latest edition 0f the Financial Post, I was very pleased to see Linda with full page coverage on the Dofasco Collection. Not only are we receiving excellent ex- posure within this magazine, but I understand we will have national support in a magazine this faîl. Also the beautiful new brochure "Ontario Association of Art Galleries" features the Whitby Station Gallery with a very picturesque painting. To the board of directors and Linda - great job!l - keep up the good work. Attending the Peter Perry Award Dinner last week was a tremendous honour. Benny LaHaye received the Outstanding Citizen 0f the Year Award and certainly deserved this recognition for the con- tribution he has made to the Town of Whitby. To you Benny, my sincere congratulations - you are definitely the epitome of a dedicated citizen with outstanding ability. The County Town Carnival is again reaching a successful mark and I would like to extend my sin- cere appreciation to not only the co-ordinator, Robin Lyons, but the many volunteers who help to make this event a reality. Our new reigning Queen, Miss Emiline Smith, will certainly represent Whit- by w ith dignity, respect and the added ingredient of beauty. Congratulations Emiline. In closing, 1 would like to wish everyone a safe and happy sumnmer.
