The construction of this new industrial facllity is part of a commitment by First City Development Cor- poration Ltd. to provide 300,000 square feet of new industry throughout Whltby over the next few years. Ruddy General Hospital is still of the opinion that the Ontario Ministry of Health will provide funding for the re-opening of the hoepital's second floor. Jack Frost made that statement last week. The estimateci cost of re-openlng the now em- pty second floor is $1.3 million in the flrst year. That figure includes $M6,000 for 32 new beds and equlpment as welI as $860,000 in annual operatlng expenses. Officiais of the Ajax- Pickering General Hospital stated recently that if Ruddy's second floor was re-opened, it would send long-terni patients te the local facility. Whitby Mayor Bob At- tersley is enthusiastic about the development of Isomedix's plant in the town. Attersley said that this company will at- tract other industries In the health care and food processing sectors to the town because they are the most frequent users of Isomedix's process.
