Heu Drivers to tolp bih at Brooklin Spring Fair 1981 The annual Brooklin Spring Fair, to be held the first weekend in June, will have some -new attractions this year, as well as the old favorites. The Trans-Canada Hell Drivers will entertain on Saturday, June 6, on the racetrack. Dangerous high- speed precision truck driving, ramp-to-ramp car jumps, and motorcycle tricks are featured in the show, which has given per- formances ail over North America in the last 15 years, including many at the Canadian National Exhibition grandstand. The show, which begins at 7 p.m., and last an hour and a haîf , is included free with your admission to the fairgrounds. Also new this year is the Carlsberg Championship Team and Wagon. The Carlsberg Wagon is made f rom solid oak and decorated by two of Canada's foremnost wood carvers. It carnies 17 solid oak beer barrels, replicas of those used in 19th century Denmnakr. An impressive hand-made, patent-leather harness with solid brass fit- ings, and the prize-wînning Carlsberg Belgian show hor- ses will also be on display. The dance this year is being held on May 30, the weekend before the fair, to allow the craft, baking, and horticulture exhibits to remain in the arena from Friday through to Sunday for the first time. "Fire"' is the group playing, and tickets may be obtained by calling 655-4287. The tractor pull has been expanded this year and wilI be held on Friday evening and also after the Hell Drivers act on Saturday. Saturday's highlights in- clude the midway, Ap- palooýsa horse show, parade, horse and dairy cattie judging, beer tent and heavy horse draw. On Sunday, there will be the pancake breakfast, Quarter Horse show, midway, bed and bathtub race, sheep and beef cattie judging, harness racing, log sawing and nail driving contests, and the Old Time Fiddlers' Contest. Learn to do The 4-H motto, "Learn to Do by Doing" was done by skits, demonstrations and exhibits on Tuesday evening, April 21 at the Brooklin Community Cen- tre. The projet, "Which Came First, the Chieken or the Egg?", was completed by the following girls: Racquel Armstrong, Andrea Deane, Anneliese Livie, Debby Noonan, Pauline Vander- meer, Leah White, Tammy Willems, and Mary-Ann Vanderpluym. They each received silver spoons and certificates. Their leader, Theresa Noonan, received a leader's award for five years of volunteer service. "4-H is a nationwide program which has as its primary goal, the develop- ment of young people as in- dividuals and as responsible members of society"l (National 4-H Council).
