Bragg also received a cheque and a chair from his fellow employees at a special party held last week. - Free Press Staff Photo Williams convocation speaker Norman Williams, chair- man of the Ontario Council of Regents, will be the speaker at Durham College's thirteenth annual convocation, May 23. The ceremony starts at 1:00 p.m. in the Oshawa Civic Auditorium. The council of regents, which Williams heads, is the chief governing body for the 22 Ontario community colleges, and is resporvible for assisting the Ministry of Colleges and Universities in the planning, establishment and coordination of programs of instruction and services at the colleges. Prior to joining the coun- cil, Williams was dean of a large metropolitan college where he worked for eight years in a number of capacities. His previous experience was in public education ser- ving as a teacher, co- ordinator and eventually a superintendent in the largest school board in Canada. Durham College's 1981 convocation will be the biggest ever, as there are more than 600 prospective graduating students. Ewart Marston, acting chairman of the college's board of governors will in- troduce the guest speaker, and Durham's president, Mel Garland will preside at the convocation. Certificates and diplomas will be presen- ted by dean of academic af- fairs, Lister Robinson.
