Mûre. de alership s urv ives in GM S Doug Johnston f irst <pened the doors of Glen- wood Lincoln Mercury on April 24, 1977. Since that time the dealer- ship, located at the corner of Anderson and Dundas Streets, has grown to an operation employing 48 people and selling 1,200 cars a year in a 25,000 square foot facility. Glenwood is one of the few Ford dealerships in what is generally considered to be the homeland of General Motors. "I don't think that we try to do anything unique here," home territory Johnston says of his corn- pany. "We just simply try to seil and repair cars to the best of (ur ability." That ability must be seen to be high in the estimation of the Ford Motor Company which awarded Glenwood its covetted Distinguished Dealer Award in 1978. In fact, Johnston has been winning awards since he fir- st started selling cars ini Barrie, Ontario a few years ago. In 1973, he was the recipient of the Peak Per- former Award which Ford gives to its best salesmnan of the year. It is flot unusual to see Johnstori on the floor of his showroom, according to those who work with hiîn, they often see him lendîng a lîand to answer custorner questions. Glenwood is also involved In the community as a spon- sor of not only two basebal teams but three hockey teamisas weIl. As one of his employees said, "being a good citizen is imîportant to Doug and he wants to be a part of the community." PRO(ISSl~I)TlO, \IT1F1- j:.jIj.
