Thickson Plan. The planning department and C.B.C. are stili proposing a development that in no way canforms with Whitby officiai plan or Whitby's restricted zoning bylaws. According ta council's own rules and regulations, single famîly detached homes can only be built on land designated as low density. Removing the medium density designation would be the fast and speedy answer ta the developer's problem. 0wr Whitby planning department lias already informed many residents and even some of their lawyers that the land in question is zoned R. 2, or low density. The planning depar- tment neglected ta inform persans that the officiaI plan would create a change in the zoning. This is hardly being completely honest with the public. Many new residents have invested a great deal of money into their new homes, only to find that the zoning right next door ta themn was not what they were led to believe. This Tuesday, April 20, the C.B.C. Thickson plan will be discussed at the administrative committee meeting. GROWTII IN WII1TBY MUCII BRIGHTER - JOE DRUMM Joe feels that aîlawing a developer ta build single family detached homes on 30' ta 35' lots would pave the way far every other developer ta do the same.
