According to Verna Roberts, the executive assistant to mayor and council, there are stili a number of scrolls left. During the year, 125 serolis were given out. Derek Pearce (left), the co-owner of the Whitby Ambulance Service and attendant Russ Porter show off the service's new emergency vehicle which sports the new international colors of orange on white. The vehicle, which bas been seen roaming around Whitby streets for the last two weeks, is one of the most modern of its type and is fully equiped except for cardiac equipment. It is powered by a V8 360 cubic inch engine and bas four individual sirens, which are Ioud enough to pierce the deafest ear. The ambulance can carry two stretcher casualities or six sitting. Pearce also said that they expeet to receive another of these vehicles in the near future. The ambulance, which are owned by the Ontario Ministry of Health will replace the old blue and white vehicles that Witby residents have become accustomed to.
