No warnin Ifor sehool bus rule, breakers The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have announ- ced that they wilI prosecute anyone violating the rules concerning school buses ac- cording to a spokesman for the Whitby detachinent. "The majority of students are transported by school bus, which. at this time of year, necessitates travelling on the highway in the haîf- liglit:0f early morning and returning home i the dusk of early evening," he said adding. that "the risk of a sertous traffic .accident during these ýperiods is most prevelant." "It is imperative that this. movemnent of pupils is com- pleted in safety," liesaid. The -spokesman said that OPP headquartlers lias told its members to ."take the necessary enforcement, ac.ý tion when violation .s' of the rules-ý as ý'thèy apply to schoolbuses areobserved."11 OPP constables -will' en- sure that school'bus, drivers ailow sufficient time and road *space for other motorists to stop safely he said.*' 'When ail traffic over- taking or meeting the bus has.stopped, then and oiily then, should the driver ope n the door to receive or diseharge sehool children,"1 the spokesman said. He also warned that the' police will give no warnings to those motorists who do not obey the rules. "Strict enforcement will, be taken against violators. Impress the motoring public no warning will be gîven, charges wii be prefered,", the directive to- the Whitby detaclinent .fromn Deputy OPP Commiss ioner J.L. Er- skin said. "In the lnterest of traffic safety a concentrated effort must be made to prevent a death or injury accident concerning school children.
