The annual fee is $2.00 a yeàr effective January the first and $3.00 a year for associate members. Lounges, library, games and workshops are available daily to ail nmembers. Some of the games are snooker, billiards, darts and shuffleboard. The library books are changed every Thursday afternoon'and upon request special books will be available. Crafts! No one' ever -needs to be idie or bored -and everyone can learn sornething; just as a suggestion', a ten week course in, pottery, ceramics and there is macrame and weaving too. For the latter'volunteer instruction is needed to teach basic knots and how to thread a table loom. Volunteers are needed to offer their services to show members, the techniques of these interesting hobbies. Have you ever feit you would like to learn some of these things some of which can become almost an obsession? It's ail here right a t your fingertips and you will be Iwith other people who are lEartling too. Other 'handicrafts are; rug hooking, stichery, flower arranging, crewel work and beadwork. There is a bible study group that welcomes ail interested members. Social bridge at two p.m. every Friday. In the evening cribbage on Monday at seven. p.m. with tournaments planned for later on. Euchre games are held every Wednesday at seven thirty p.m. by Centre Volunteers. Bingo every Thursday at seven thirty p.,m. and this group is growing every month. Choir members hold their rehearsals every Wednesday at ten thirty am, Senior citizen maybe a misnomer but, this, in sorm pfples minds, means a very old person who may not really bc- wMit l Soine of the oldest people'I have known are very yomng in spirit. They. have long passed the petty trivialities whicb beset some who are many years younger in years. They realize that lîfe -is a fleeting thing,. here today and gone tomorrow; Lime flies as the years pass. No matter'how hard you try life sJîçs by, it evades your grasp; the days become hours, far Lt feé- and the hourse become minutes. You cannot hold on the fime.. Treasure each moment for time cannot be reclaimed; oneca only learn from the past not relive it. It is the Aunties, the Uncles, the Grannys and the Grandads who listen patiently, wipe away the tears and kiss those dear little faces. There must be amix of old and young. For a youngste r to miss the j0y of older folk is to miss one of the joys of life. Henry Street High School students, '.grade twelve and thirteen are funding and hosting a weekend fortenor twelve Activity Centre memibers in October somewhere in the Peterborough area. From Friday to sunday there will be many things to do such as hiking and parties too: This will be a happy and glbrious time for ail. The centre always has* a Christmas party. Grandchildren and great grandchildren; they'ail corne, sometimes four and five generations. Sehool children help out and plan activities; Boy Scouts help out at the centre:' They eut grass, trirn flower beds, shovel snow for seniors. Mayhe some day hopefully they al Will be seniors and they too may need a helping hand. Newcomers some of whom may have lived here Many yeas ago and now, alone they have corne "home" tospend their remaining years. There are many people whose families are ail over the globe; they are alone and so lonesome s0 terribly lonesome. Do come out to the centre; you wiIl be most welcome. Friends will not take the place for your family but they will help to ease the pain. To those who have lost a loved one do come out and meet others who are as berearsed and saddened as you are. You will find comfort and solace. The young who give their caring and time; the inbetweens who do the same and al the older ones who often cao give great support to the above take every minute and enjoy it. The more you give of yourself the more you will receive in return. How many of you have enjoyed the water lately? Swimming lessons, and ail that goes with it. Therapy both for the body and the soui; it's aIl there. You can leaarn at any age, 55 or 85. Do join a swimming team. Any fears or trepidation will disperse; you will be one of many. Water has a calming soothing quality both for the body and spirit, try it. A whole new world will open up'for you. Along with vitamins, a well balanced diet, and happy thoughts you can restore your body and sou]. So please to al 0f you who ave weary and worn, onesome or sad corne to the centre. There are people there who care.' Help someone else help himself. We need you and maybe you need us. To any one with speciai skilis or not too special skills we need you too.
