JUNIOR The shutout was by Whitby Ferrco Engineering against Midland Caledonia, of Toronto, at Peel Park, May 7. , Paul Hunt scored two goals, Garvin Clark, two goals, (one from a penalty shot), Richard Greqves, three goals, and Jim Reid one. The half-time score was 6-. It was no contest, with the Whitby defense allowing few chances to the opposition while the offense had a field day. Paul Hunt chested down the ball (after some fine work by Jim Reid and Tony Aibis),' carried it in close and blasted it home withonly 60 seconds gone. Then after 16 minutesof the second period he got his second goal. Garvin Clark, four minutes later converted a Barry P. pass then got his second goal from the penalty shot. Jim Re id got his only goal of the evening when his high lob from the left wing found the corner of the net. Richard Greaves made it 5-0 and 6-0 (on two corner kicks by Jim Reid). The first was a shot and the second a header. He then scored from a Dave Cim pass to make it 8-0. The Juniors are still a bit rusty but the team play is beginning to improve and the players are working hard towards the first league game which was held on May 14. Matt Gurr and Earl Hand shared goalkeeping duties for Whitby and both were very steady. BANTAM In an exhibition game May 5 at Peel Park, the Longmuir Builders defeated Midland Caledonia 4-3 with goals by Joe Bryant, Fred D'Andrea, Mike Luchka, and Rob McArthur. Half-time score was 2-1 for Midland Caledonia. The play. in the first Ilalf was very even with Midland Caledonia seeming to get stronger as the haîf wore on but after the interval, Whitby completely dominated. Joe- Bryant shocked the visitors after only three minutes with CarmelotScaf- fidi and Gerry Winker sett- ing up the play. But tha opposition netted twice before the haîf ended. Fred D'Andrea tied things up on a pass from Spyros Spyrou and some good work was done by Doug Grant. Mike Luchka (aided 'by a corner kick by Robert Longmuir and relayed on by Fred D'Andrea) gave Whitby the lead which was short-lived as Midland Caledonia (against the run of play) scored to make it 3-3. With approximately seven minutes left,.Rob McArthur tapped in a pass (from Carmelo Scaffidi and Fred D'Andrea) from the edge of the six yard box. Ief was a tremendous team effort especially in the second half. Lef t winger Fred D'Andrea who was moved into the inside left position, for the sécond haîf, gav the visiting defense a "roasting" but this was a team victory. Bulders lose one, win one The Whitby CBC Builders lacrosse club lost its second game of the season 13 to il to Peterborough. The game was played May 8 at Peterborough against the Century 21 team. , Peterborough outshot the Builders 62-44, and scored four goals in the third period to break a 9-9 tie. The gamp was tied 3-3 after the first period. and 9-9 after the second. The game gave Whitby a one win one loss record for the season. They defeated the Mississauga Builders in their opening game. Cam Devine had three goals and three assists for the Builders. Randy Gallas had two goals and assists, Ed Derks two goals and one assist and Gil Nieuwendyk had two goals. The CBC Builders bounced back Wednesday at Iroquois Park Arena to beat the Brampton Excelsiors 20-11. The game got off to a good start for Whitby as Brian Colm scored in the first minute of play, and Marty Gallas made it 2-0 at 1:45. Whitby continued to 3-0, and the score wzs 8-3 at the end'of the first period and 14-10 at the end of the.second. Coach Chuch Lepine called it "a great team effort." The Builders played Etobicoke Sunday and Kit- chener Tuesday, and are playing Peterborough ton' ht. tamp-fout May 18-21 About 250 boys aged 9 to 15 will be attending the annual Pine Ridge Council Calvinist Cadet Corps camp-out at Burketon, May 18 to 21. Thirty-five boys from Emmanuel Reformed and Hebron Christian Reformed Churches in Whitby will be .attending. The site of the camp-out is north of Enniskillen and Bowmanville. The weekend will feature wilderness camping, and games and races. About 140 boys from Whitby, Peterborough, Port Perry, Bowmanville and Oshawa are expected to at- tend, plus more than 60 cadets from Toronto.
