Mr. Suszek's grade 5 & 6 class from St. Leo's School will present a variety of puppet stories, using puppets they have made themselves. The Brooklin & District Kinette Club is sponsoring the Teen Dance-A-Thon on April 7 at the Brooklin Community Centre. A $50 cash prize will be given to the teen with.the most money sponsored towards Cystic Fibrosis. Other prizes including draws, door prizes and spot dance prizes can be won throughout the dance. Music will be provided by the Music Machine from. Whitby. Refreshments and supper will be supplied. For further information call Jane Baron-at 655-4818. Registrations are being taken for the Hunter's Safety Course being held in Brooklin on April 9 & 10. You must register and pay a fee of $15 prior to taking the course. Contact Carl Sedore at 655-3250. A meeting will be held on Thursday, March 29 at 8 p.m. for the Brooklin Business Association. The meeting place is the Community Concept Centre for Brooklin on Baldwin Street. A Regional Councillor will address the meeting and bring us up to date with what's happening regarding proposed growth in Brooklin. It is important that we all make an effort to attend. Membership fees are now $10 due and payable to Fred Brown or Valerie Hundert. Please come out and support your association! The Boy Scout Paper Drive will be held on April 14. Keep this date in mind. More to come. Giant Plant Auction! Spring is here! Bring your plants and cuttings and "Let's Get Growing Together." The Horticultural meeting will be held at the Brooklin United Church Hall, March 28 at 8 p.m. Ken Brown will conduct the plant auction and give us some tips on growing and caring for house plants. Florence Ashton, who has won many awards for her Iris, will tell some of her secrets and Gib MarloW will share some of his knowledge so we can grow better Roses. Gib has also woi many awards for his beautiful roses. Visitors are always welcome. The Third Annual "Spring Fling of Fashion" being presented by the Brooklin Kinettes,- will take place on Wednesday, April 18 and Thursday April 19. Tickets for either evening can be obtained by calling Brenda Mancini at 655-4739. Clothing from Fashions 126 in Whitby will be modelled by the Kinettes and other local ladies. Footware from Kameka in the Whitby Mall will also be. shown. Refreshments, door prizes and draws are being offered. The show will be held at the Oddfellows Hall on Bagot St. in Brooklin. Tickets are $2. The Whitby District Finals for the Pinewood Derby were held on March 17 at the Municipal Building. Of the eleven Boy Scout cub pacts entered, the Brooklin winners were: Design - 1st place - Colin Moor Speed - 3rd place - Thomas Gores Leader Speed - 3rd place - Alan Hainer Congratulations boys! Remember to attend the Ashburn Fashion show on April 7, featuring custom made clothing by Susan Rigby and Barbara Porter. The show will be held at 2 p.m at the Ashburn Community Centre. Susan Smith 655-3932 Brown's Drop Off (before noon Saturday) Youth remanded for sentencing A Whitby youth who already has three breaking and entering convictions against him, has been re- manded in custody for sen- tencing on two new convic- tions on the same offence as well as for fraud. Kevin John Bissell, 17, of Garden Street, pleaded guilty in provincial court last week to attempting to break into a Whitby Mall optical store last fall and one month later successfully breaking in to steal $20. The court was told that Bissell, while he was work- ing at a service station, held back credit cards and forged sales, pocketing the money from the till. This led to the fraud convictions. Between Sept. 29 and Oct. 3, 1978, Bissell and two juv- eniles tried to enter G.R. Barnes Optical but couldn't open the second door, the court was told. Between Nov. 30 and Dec. 29, they were successful with $20, informed. and made off the court was Annette J. Vesters, 18, of 24 North Street Brooklin, was given a conditional dis- charge on a charge of theft under $200. She had been charged with stealing a sweater worth $16 from the Whitby K Mart on Dec. 6. She was placed on probation for 12 months by Judge Norman Edmondson.
