Free Press Photo On March 31 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., the citizens of Whitby are invited to an open house at the Bank of Mont- real in honor of the bank's 25th anniversary in town. The bank, at the corner of Brock and Dundas Streets, was opened March 1, 1954 in the building now occupied by Donald Travel, and has been in its present location since 1960 Manager Joe Sharp invites everyone to come in and enjoy light refreshments, coffee, cookies and balloons for the children. Special guests at the anni- versary will be Jed Purcell, Senior Vice-President for Central Ontario Division, and Regional District Man- ager Gord MacAskill, both of Toronto. In honor of the 25th anni- versary, each visitor will receive a 9 1/2 by 12-inch sketch on antique finish paper, of the site of the Bank 25 years ago. The, sketch, by Montreal artist Dick Wilson, shows the old Whitby post office and the bank beside it in 1954. It was copied from a photo- graph in the Whitby Histor- ical Society Archives.
