OSHAWA CHAPTER SWEET ADELINES The Sweet Adelines will hold their dance at Heydenshore on Saturday, February 3, 1979, from 8 p.m. toi1 a.m. Tickets are $8 per 'couple, available from any 'member of thé Sweet Adelines, or eall Anna-Jane Sharraed at 576-2358. SEWERS Rernember the Regional meeting on Wednesday January 24, will be to determine the Sewer rate for the Corridor Area. Most Corridor reý;idents already have sewer services, there are only about 150 homes remaining to bep serviced. It is, hoped these persons will be charged in accordance with thé established policy that existed for the already'serviced areas. M cahr 725-8967 Mental health featured mn new cable TV series A new series of programs on mental health will begin- this month on Pine Ridge Cable TV Channel 10, hosted by Diane Milîs, public rela- tions officer for the Whitby Psychiatrie Hospital. The general theme of the sre s"Mental Health is a Family Affair," and is being presented in association with the International Year of the Child. The* first program of the series will be shown et 8 p.m. tonight and at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, and will be repea- ted Feb. 7 at 8 p.m. and Feb. 8 at 4:30 p.m. This prograin, entitled, "Understanding Adole- scence", features as guests, Dr. Alima Lazor, a child psychiatrist and director of the adolescent unit at the Whitby Psychiat ric Hospital, and Doreen Sjongen, a child care worker, and Mrs. D. Chandler, Director of Child Therapy, West end Creshe, Child and Famnily Clinic, Toronto. Topics to be discussed include growth and develop- ment, adolescence in the family, developmental. pro- blems and how to cope with them, how the adolescent copes ini society and the forces that affect him, grow- ing up, family communica- tion, positive parenting, and peaceful coexistence through communications. The second show in the series Will be shown on Jan. 24 at 8 p.m. and Jan. 25 at 4:30 p.m., in which the same guests will discuss learning disabilities. Among thé topics to be discussed are the impor- tance to early identification of learning disabilities in preschoolers, identification of problems and explanation of early symptoms, and the exploration of treatment through special educational programs and group therapy for both the faniily and child.
