Ron Hawkins moves to Ajax as deputy fire chief Members of the WhitbY Fire Departmentand town council and staff gathered at the Centennial Building Thursday to pay tribute to Deputy Chief Ron Hawkins, who left Whitby department to become Deputy Fire Chief at Ajax, Monday. Chief Ed Crouch acted as master of ceremonies, as a numnber of presentations were made to Deputy Chief Hawkins. "1Y,ou have been a very dedicated citizen of this town and an extremely good deputy fire chief," said Mayor Jim Gartshore, as he presented Deputy Chief Hawkins with a set of luggage. Presentations were- also made by IÜPont of Canada, where the deputy chief has conducted training exercises in first aid and fire fighting, and by Local 2036 of the Whitby Firefighters Assoc- ia tion, of which Deputy Chief Hawkins is a charter member.
