BAZAAR AND YARD SALE Abazaar and yard sale will be held at the Hebron Christian Reformed Church on Elizabeth Crescent, Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Everything from furniture to produce and baked goods will be sold, with proceeds going to the church's mission work. Lunch and snacks will be available. TALK ON HAITI Aslide show and talk on the Caribbean country of Haiti will be presented at the Al Saint's Evening Guild in the church's parish hall, Nov. 5 at 7:30 p.m. The talk vil bc given by Mr. and Mrs. Scott Hortop. Mrs. Hortop is thé former Sally Stratford, daughter of the president of the Evening Guild. Everyone is welcome to attend. FASHION SHOW AND BAZAAR The Students of the Ontario Ladies' College, members of the Students Christian Movement are holding a bazaar at the College from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday November 4. There will be tables filled with possible gifts for Christmas for those who like to shop early, a fashion show and a tea room. Proceeds from the Bazaar will go toward the Student Christian Movement projects. All mothers of minor hockey players are invited to attend. BOTTLE DRIVE A bottle drive will be held throughout Whitby Oct. 28 and Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. by the Brooklin Home Bakery Major Atom Repre- sentative Hockey Team. All types of bottles will be collected and the proceeds will go toward sending the team to a Silver Stick hockey tournament. baking, plants, Indian crafts and a lunch counter will be featured. ALMONDS REUNION The Almonds Church and community will hold a 'get-together' at the Red Wing Orchards Recreation Hall Oct. 28. BAZAAR AND SALE The Whitby Jaycettes will be holding their second annual bazaar and bake sale on Saturday, Nov. 25 at the Whitby Mall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All items are hand- made and baked by the Jaycettes and friends. PLANT PARTY The Wilitby Jaycettes are holding a plant party at the Consumers Gas Building at Hopkins Street and Consumers Drive, Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. There will be a small admission fee to pay for refreshments and door prizes. For advance tickets and more information call 668-0065. EVENING FOR PARENTS An Evening for Parents will be held at 8 p.m., Nov. 2, 9, 16, and 23 at All Saints' Anglican Church. This four- session course is not a child study course, but a warming, inspiring opportunity for couples to look at themselves as parents in such areas as memories, listening, replays and life-giving. The eveiings include fun, listening to a presentation, private shar- ing as couples, and group sharing. For registration, call Mrs. Len Williston at 668-4489. The Evening for Parents is sponsored by the church's 'Wednesday Noon Group'. CONCERT The Oshawa Choral Society will present a family program for children and adults at the Brooklin United Church Nov. 3 at 8 p.m. The program features a number of familiar songs and skits. Tickets are available from members of the UCW of Brooklin United Church or from Marion Young by call- ing 668-4686. Some tickets will be held for sale at the door. Proceeds from the concert will support the -Brooklin United Church and many attra'etive booths for Christmas gifts. After- noon tea will be served, including sandwiches, cookies and pickles. CHRISTMAS SEAL VARIETY CONCERT A few tickets are still available for the Christmas Seal Variety Concert, which will be held on Sunday October 29, at Eastdale Coll- giate, Harmony Road North, Oshawa. The Program starts at 7:30, and offers something for every musical taste, as Harry McKew hosts the County Town Singers, General Motors Choir, Ilarion Ukranian Dance Ensemble, Loreley Folk Singers and Dancers, Oshawa Barbershoppers and Sweet Adelines, and the Oshawa Choral Society. All pioceeds will go to the Christmas Seal Campaign, which funds research into respiratory diseases, and also provides such local community programs as this summer's Day Camp for asthmatic children at Camp Samac, Better Breathing Courses for emphysema and chronic bronchitis patients, Smoking Withdrawal Clinics and free film and literature services. HALLOWE'EN BAZAAR The 22nd West Lynde Brownies will hold a Hallowe'en Bazaar Oct. 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at West Lynde Public School. Featured itefns will be a bake table, white. elephant sale, plants, crafts and books. HALLOWE'EN DANCE A Hallowe'en Dance and buffet will be held by the Whitby Old-Timers' Soccer Club Oct. 28 in the Whitney Hall at Iroquois Park Arena, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for the best costume, although costumes are optional. Mills, Secretary of the Division of Ministry, Personnel and Education of the United Church of Canada will be the guest speaker at the 152nd Anniversary Service of St. Màrk's United Church Nov. 4 at il a.m. KIRK BAZAAR white elephant table, decori- tions table, and horne crafts table. FESTIVAL OF PRAISE A Festival of Praise will be held at 4 p.m. Oct. 29 at St. Maik's United Church when the combined choirs of the Whitby churches under the direction of Mrs. Elaine Broughton will provide an hour of music, solos, anthems and instru- mental selections. SILENT AUCTION St. Mark's United Church will be holding its annual silent auction Oct. 30 in the church hall. A new feature this ear will be a soup.and saniTi h luncheon served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The tea room and bazaar and bake tables will be open from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and the auction will take place in the evening starting at 7:30 p.m. SKATE-A-THON Everyone is invited to participate in the family skate-a-thon sponsored by the Whitby Kinsmen Club in conjunction with McDonald's, Whitby Mall, on Saturday, Novernber il at Iroquois Park Arena. The annual fund raising event will feature numercA à.; spot prizes and four winners will receive bicycles. Everyone who participates will receive a hot dog and drink and from McDonald's in Whithy free fries, balloons, litte'r bags and a big Mac. Skating will take place between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sponsor sheets are available at all Whitby schools and McDonald's, Whitby Mall. Money raised will go toward various projects and local activities supported by the Kinsmen Club. IS MARRIAGE NECESSARY?
