Medals and plaques were handed out by- members of the recreation department A lacrosse team, Eastern, Ontario Champions; the' Whitby Merchants basebal team, Ontario Senior D champions. Individual winners were Mary Louise Reddick, World Strutting Solo Champion, who gave a performance at the awards night, and Risto Santala, North American Chamption in Orienteering for over age 35, and Ontario Cross Country Ski Champion. <over 35) for 15 and 30 kilometres. Eight Girl Guides received the Canada Cord, the highest award in Guiding.' These girls were: Debbie Church, Nancy,. Pearon, Laurie Tflorley, Lee Ann Fagan,, Karin' Cruxton, Jackie Evans, Anne Smith and Wendy Puckrin. Recreation Director Wayne DéVeau acted as Master of Ceremonies for the evening, and remarks were made by Councillor Bob Attersley and Mayor Jim Gartshore, who made some of the presentations.
