Monza styling is carried over for the Monza' Sport 2 plus 2 hatchback coupe, and a three-model Monza lineup including a coupe, 2 plus 2 hatchback coupe and station wagon. The Monîa "S"' hatchback coupe and * Monza Estate station wagon are discontinued. The Monza Sport 2 plus 2 hatchback c oupe is distinguished by a soft * front end design, quad- style rectangular head- lights and body-color bumper guards. The Monza line as a convential style grille, hard bumper and single roundheadlampsý.4 Through extensive refinements, -about, six percent more' horsepower cornes with the standard * 2.5 litre (151 0113) L-41 engine. Notable cçhangesý include a completely redésigned cylinder head with cross-flow induction., and exhaust, a.new 2-barrel "Varajet" carburetor, new, aluminumn inlet manifold, and new air cleaner with replaceable filtering element to eut * maintenance costs. Previously, a disposable air cleaner was used. Teoptional V-6 engine has been refined, increasing horsepower and decreasing weight. Included are use of the «"Dualiet" carburetor, revised inlet and exliaust manifolds, redesigned cylinder heads, ani increased performance camshaft. The engine is about 4 kg lighter due' primarily to a new method of coring the cyinder block. The 5.0 litre 2-barrel V-B has the "Duaijet" carburetor and improved exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). Other changes are new design front seats for Monza Value Series and a general upgrading of vinyl and cloth trim, along with new medium green and oyster colors. There are added corrosion-resistant treatments to the door inner and outer panels, New options include AM/FM stereo radio with stereo cassette tape, and AM/FM stereo radio wiith digital dlockl. Sport -striping is ý'also available. PICK UPS Most models with ýup to- 8.5Ã"00- lbs-, gross-, vehicle wýeight are equipped with a catalytic converter and other light-duty emission .eqipmnt.Canadian- produced domestic market 1/2 ton3/ ton 2-door cab pickups equipped with the 5.7 litre (350 CID) 4 bbl. V-B do not use a catalytic converter and run on unleaded or regular fuel. The 4.1 litre L-6 has Chevrolet's new stà ged 2 bbl. carburetor with- new cylinder heads that have improved porting and new dual takedown manifold 'for performance. - exhausÈt The optional 5.0 litre (305 CID) V-8 bas a new, Dualjet: 2 bbl. carburetor and a new exhaust gas recirculation vçalve. The 5.7, 6.6, and 7.4 litre engines all have, the new Mod-Quad carburetor with hot air choke for improved driveability. Rear shock- absorbers are mounted forward of the rear axle and are not staggered due to the new fuel tank location, and the rear stabilizer has been eliminated on Series 30 modelsdue to the fuel tank location. Engines are carried over from 1978. Forward control models -are exempt from government regulations relating to the use of catalytic converters. School Bus chassis have a base GVW rating increase to 11,500 lbs. and a new rear-mounted 25.8 imperial gallon fuel tank with left-hand fill. A new option package provides an 80-amp alternator, 4,000 watt battery, 100-amp > lectrical connector. dual horns, propshaf t guard and black painted wheels and bumpers.
