This June is no exception,, for within the next week.the Free Press will be moving to new expanded quarters. Free Press Publîsher Mike Burgess recently purchased the brick building at 131 Brock Street North, a few doors north of the present Free Press office, for M.B.M. Publishing and Photography Imc. The moving starts this week, and we expect to be operating from our new office by June 9. SIt was three years ago, ln June 1975 that the Whitby Free. Press moved to Its present location at 121 Brock Street north at the street level. For two years prevlously the paper's office had been upstairs ln thesame building. Each move has represented a growth In the Whitby Free Press ln staff and equiprnent, and Iust as the Town of Whitby is expanding, we are expanding too. This expansion and success is directl y due to the backing we have received from our faithful readers and advertisers, and we take this opportun ity to thank you ail for your support over the years. The Whitby Free Press published its f irst Issue on June 30, 1971 (that rnagic month of June again) s0 we will be celebrating our eighth anniversary this mnonth too. By the end of June our new offices should be in a reasonable state of order after*the move, and we intend to welIcome ail1 our readers, advertisers and friends to an Open House. More details will be announced later. The reason for our move to larger quarters is that things are getting rather crowded in our present offilce. The purchase 0f new equipment has cut down the amount 0f working s'Pace, and with an increase ln staff we find ourselves bumping into each ig other wherever we turn. Also there is the inconvenience of the prlning operations havlng space with the paste-up dept. for the newspaper, and having to remove bundles of freshly printed orders f rom the paste-up tables 50 we can produce the - paper, on a regular weekly basis.. Our new offilce will provide us with about f ive times the f loor space we now occupy, with un1im ited room for expansion in the future. The new building can be expanded at a later date to the back or upwards by adding another storey or two. We will b. operating on two levels ln the new building, the lower level being devoted to printing and dlarkroom facilities, and the upper level being the location of our photo studio, newspaper production department and business offices. If you want to get acquainted early with our new headquarters, It Is located between the Knights of Columbus Hall on Brock Street North and our "M. B.M. Publishing" sign Is already up. The building has been used for the last year as a barracks for the Whitby Sea Cadet Corps, and we will continue to let the sea cadets use It for storage until1 they f mnd another home. Our rnailing address will remain the same: P.O. Box 206, Whltby, Ontario, LIN 5SI1, but our new street address is 131. Brock Street North. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience our move may cause to our customers dùring the next couple of weeks, but once thie dust has cleared and the machinery îs moved, «we will bu able to serve you butter ln our expanded headquarters. And doW't forget our Open House at the end of June when *v.ryone wvlll have an opportunlfy to tour the new home cf the WhttyFresPress. To serve you better, we are growlng and NEW OFFICE 0F THE WIHTBY FREE PRESS 131 BROCK STREET NORTH P.O.
