Whitby's twinning cant- mittee is examining a pro- posai for twinning the tawn with the community of Ash- burn, Georgia. Caunicillor Gerry Emm, who lives in Ashbum, Ontario, recently shawed his fellow counicil members a' letter from the Chamber of Commerce of Ashburn, Georgia, suggesting a twin- ning. He suggested the proposaI is worth examining because Whitby does not have a twmn- ning partner in the United States, and Ashburn, Georgia is an one of the main routes Canadians take ta Florida. The Ashburn Chamber says its community, which is near Presidcnt Jimnmy Cartert home town, Plains, Georgia, would make any Wbitby visitors honorary citizcns of Ashburn.
