LotN of interestlng news for you'this weelc-- but first may 1 apologize for flot -getting down ta the Consolidated Building Corporation's presentation re: future development of Brooklin' I1 had hoped to report to you about the concepts being forwarded by these developers. The only feedback I've had from those who did visit the display, was that it came as something of a surprise ta discover the extent of the planning area. *They are flot talking about a couple of small subdivisions' - this is a totally expanded community! The artlsts' drawings are apparently quite interesting in regard ta possible new looks for our downtown area. Those of you who did flot visit the C.B.C. (old bank building) last week may be able ta go this week as I hope ta. h S T THOMAS ANGLICAN CNURCN . mCrer of A',dersin & Wjrnchest9r 9ds., Br"vfrkli", WELCOMES YOU TO ITS WORS41IP AND) IlFELLOWSHIP1 >u-iday Services: :unday Sche'o1: 9 a.m. ila.m. iam. iquiries tr': qev. This year's service will have special interest in that an histarical patchwork quilt will be presentcd ta the church by a Miss Mary Howard of Toronto, whose father the Reverend Mr. Howard was the first minister at this church when it was built. The quilt is a very beautiful patchwork one that was ernbroidered with the names of area residents and was presented ta Miss Mary Howard's father in 1908. This very thoughtful and generous gift brings ta aur area not only Myrtle United Church history but community history as well. .This service and quilt presentation is open ta everyone. There is public ice timne on Tuesday afternoons - but people who work cannat make-that. There is also time on Friday evenings but area young people ail use this - and 1 certainly don 't begrudge themn it - there is little enough for theni in aur area as it is! I-.owever, the Sunday after- noon ice-tirne was the only tiiiie that farnilies in the area nad access ta the area. Dowe have ta travel ail the way down ta Iroquois Park for this as well? A couple of people have called ta tell me that they are unhappy that there is only Senior Figure Skating time avail- able at Brooklin Memorial Arena. AIl juniors and inter- mnediates have ta travel down ta roquais Park for lessons-. Perhaps the Figure Skating executive could do something about this. This club is well organized and well run. -,I appreciate that ice scheduling is always a problem and that there mnay be good reasons for the present arrangement. Speaking about ice scheduling - I arn very ùnhappy ta learn that there is no Sunday afternoon public skating ice-timne available this season in Brooklin.
