Council passed a bylaw recently to authorize a site plan agreemnent for 105 senior citizen units on the, old Coîborne Street Sehool site. Construction of the apartment complex began last month, and the foundations are neari y completed. Tree planting Saturday About 500 memibers of the Whitby District Boy Scouts will be planting trees iin three locations in town Saturday starting at 10 a.m. The Scouts will plant 15,000 trees in Camp X, and aiong Pringle and Lynde Creek as part of "Trees for Canada", a national Scouting project. Eachi Scout as well as the leaders, will be planting 30 trees apiece as a special beautificaion project for the Town of Whitby. The Scouts have collected sponsorships for the trees, with the nioney going to aid Scouting activities in the Whtby District. Councillor Gerry Emm said any study of Broolin if conducted now, would not carry any weight when Brooklin grows. Any figures now would. be ,short-sighted, ie said. Cotincillor Bob Carson said he understood that sewers were required before a senior citizens housing project could be built in Brooklin, but he supported the cail for a study, for it mlight support the need for sewers. Councillor Thompson replied that OHC officiais had told lier that apartments of up to- 16 units had been buit on septie tank systenis with- ouit sewers.
