Devetopers, who own a great deal of land ail around Brooklin have shown great initervst in fostering the dcvelop- ment of Brooklin. Ohviousty they have invested a lot of money and hope for some return on their investmefltS. The projected population figure for Brooklin represented in the Pinker studies has been 10,000. Just tet that sink in stowly - can you imagine how Brooklin wiil change if' we increase our population to that level? This is your town, you know why you tive here, what you like about it. Somne of you may have been born here, others have moved here - perhaps fleeing big devetopment elsewhere. You stili have time to* influence the shape and size of your town if you care enough to study the situation. The devetopers will be setting up shop in the old bank building and have hired a person of some ability to, listen to your ideas over the next few months. The North Ward Community Association is concerned that Brooklin people are heard and their feelings about the prospective size of the town be the determining factor in any future decisions. There are copies of the recent Pinker report on the financial and transportation implications of Brooklin at 10,000 people available at the public library. Note that -the. social implications of such a population increase have not yet been investigated. This is the area that wilt most affect our daily lives. The Brooklin Public School chitdren won many awards and provided their competitors with fierce but dlean competition. The Anderson C.V.l boys played a superb hockey game both on Saturday and Sunday night winning the gold med.al with a hard won overtime goal. Several teamn members were from Brooklin and they played very weti. The Group '74 Arts and Crafts Centre will not be pre- senting a spring crafts programn this year. They are currently planning an ambitious fal programi with both new and oid crafts. Croup '74 would be interested in hearing from people who would be witling to teach decoupage and tole painting. There is great interest in these two areas and experienced teachers are required. Please cati 655-4536 if you are interested. Thlere will be an Arts and Crafts Operi House next September - watch for information on this later. Croup '74 are witling to offer sponsorship to any local childrens' sports team. St. Thomas' Anglican Church in Brooklin will be holding special open house services on Wednesdays at 8 p. m. during Lent.
