Val 655-4317 Report expected next'i Ann %-%Vmmifla pool bus!i During the first week of August, the Whitby Recrea- tion Department wiil be pre- paring a report on whether or flot to initiate a bus service for public swimming at the Iroquois Park Swimming Pool. Comîwunity Services Co- ordinator Bob Caspeli says -that only about three or four per cent of the questionnaires sent out by the recreation departmneft in June were returned, but the response seems to indicate an interest in a bus service. From the 150 question- naires returned, Mr. Caspel says, 51 adults and 114 children have indicated that thev would participate ini a buIpbgam The greatest interest was shown in having the bus service on week days and Saturdays, with less interest shown in Sundays. Eighty- four people said they wanted the bus service on week days, 65 on Saturdays and 46 on Sundays. Most people indicated that they would like to be picked Up at local schools) in their neighbourhoods, such as Kathleen Rowe, R. A. Hutchison, Dr. Robert Thornton and Pamierston. However, the northern residents of the town indicated they preferred pick- ups in their local areas, rather in Brooklin.s Most of those who respond. ed to the questionnaire saids they would be wiliing to pay 10 or 20 cents for the rides, while few would agree to pay1 as mucli as 40 cents. Response to when they would use the service was generally, the same, with a slight emphasis on the winter months when driving is bad. Seventy-two people said they would use the service froin December to March, 67, in July and -- August, 66 from September to November, and 63 -from April to June. The questionnaires indicate that a lot of people are I veek service, participatirlg in the public swims at Iroquois Park, and many would use the bus service if it was offered, *said Mr. Caspeil. However, Mr. Caspeil said he would like to hear from more people before the matter is considered, because of the low response to the questionnaire, which was distributed through the schools. No conclusions have been drawn yet on whether the service will be instîtuted, said Mr. Caspell. If it is decided to proceed, it could in operation in conjunction with the faîl swimmillg - -programn, he said. cated that bus service was a good idea, said Mr. Caspeli, and some suggested that bus service should be provided to aIl Iroquois Park events.
