PAGE 6, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 'l1, 1976, WHITBY FREE PREgS Bix®lin ,~ Byires, wi Have you, tried ta cail me this week? If you did and failed. ta reach me, then don't blame me entirely . I..1too have tried making some local cails and have had, ta put it mildly, a rather difficuit time. In desperation I did eall the operator and found out that there had been some kind of mishap ta a cable, but that they did think it was repaired. I sincerely hope so...but I do suggest that if you are stili having problems in trying ta place a cali, that you caîl the operator and ask for assistance ....at the samre time report your 'dissatisfaction for the kind of service that you are paying for! On occasions like this I feel that if we sit back and resign ourselves ta poor seruiice, then we are asking for it. But if w e ail complain then we'l1 possibly see a faýt improvement. After ahl Mother Bell is quick enough ta increase the cost of service when she feels the need ....0 let her be just as quick in dealing with complaints when we feel the need. And if by chance ail is working well once again ....then congratulations ta Mother Belfl!! Don't forget that this Friday,. the l3'th!, you are al invited ta the Annual Progressive Buchre Party that is being held by the Beethovan Lodge at the Oddfellows Hall on Bagot St. in Brooklin. The party starts at 8 p.rn. and you can buy your ticket at the door. The price is $1 .50 per persan which includes refrcshmcnts. And if you don't manage ta win anc of-the, many prizes ....console yourself with the aid tholight, 'lucky in cards, unlucky in love' ....and keep your fingers crossed that you get a Valentine the following day! Seriously it should be a very good evening ...and you don't have ta travel that far. Sa no excuses ....just get ,,long there.4 And talking of the l4th ...don't gel so wrapped up in hearts andl flowers that you forget ta get those papers out for the Scouts and Cubs paper drive. Newsprint ail neatly' tied up, shauld be put out before 9 a.mn. ta ensure that the boys pick it up. This is for a good cause and l'in sure that you'll be more than helpful. Another yaung people's group is back in the Bylines. Yes, I'rn talking about Level1IV. They have arranged a semi-formal dance ta be'held on Friday the 27thi February at the Brooklin United Church Hall. The music, provided by a disc jockey, will begin at 8 p.m. and will continue until 1 a.n. Tickets are $5 a couple or $4 if you are an your own ....(could pay ta fînd a partner in a hurry!!) and include a cold buffet and dloar prizes. Sa the fun has been arranged, alI that is needed is your presence . a... get on your serni-formal best and yauir dancing shoes and trot along and enjoy yourselves. Level 1 V president, Joe Pengelly, also asks if there are Iwo adults in the tawn that would be willing ta offer their services as counisellors ta the group . This is a great apportunity for ail those who profess an interest in aur yaung people ta get involved. Sa came on, don't be shy, give ioe a caîl at 655-4596 and offer your services. Dan't sit back and critîcize aur young people, rather get out and help them ta help themselves. You can't say you weren't asked!! The monthly Legion meeting is here again, Sunday lSth Feb. at 1:30 p.m. à t the Legion Hall. Members who need it are reminded that the time for paying dues is now past.... therefore please turn up and bring yourselt up to date!!« If yau havcn't been ta your Hall lately yau should go just ta sec the changes that have been brought .I. believe the new decorations are really something ta be proud of. There are no fresh decorations at the Coarnmunity Centre but there are plenty 6f fresh ideas.& A 1 strongly recammcrid that aIl directors of the Brooklîn Spring Fair Board corne ta the next meeting, which will' be at the centre on Thursday, Feb. 26th at 8 p.m. There s a great deal of enthusiasm and a great înany new ideas being brought forth at these meetings, and if you are a director then yau should be there. Sa make the great effort and don't let anything keep you away from the centre on the 26th. Anotlier very va.id reason for being at the centré on the samne night is the fact that, once again, Group 74's Arts and Crafts are holding an Open Night, between 7:30 and 9 p.m. The new term will be starting on March 4th and running for 10 weeks, but on the 26th you will get a preview of what they are offering, and you wilI be able ta register. The course itself will cost $7 for aduits and $4 for the young people's course (adults from 16 years and Up; young peoples in twa graups, 8-11 yrs and 12 taiS1 yrs). Crafts being offered this session are crotchetting, mac rame, off-loom weaving, rug-hooking, quilting, creative stitchery and pottery. Corne along and see what you could do for the next 10 weeks. Yau could surprise yourself with same very beautiful crafts created with your own two hands. AT A GLANCE. - FR1. FEB. l3th - thovan Lodge Annual Bec. Till next time, take care. LIZ 6 5 5-375 0 When you buy a fry pan, look for one without grease- collecting crevices. A square pan gives nearly 1/ more cooking area than the same diameter round pan and allows for better arrangement of mnany foods such as bacon. A round pan, though, is easier to pour from and has no hard-to- clean corners. A large fry pan should have an auxiliary handie for easy carrying. mu [ SUREME - FROZEN - CONCENTRATED 121/2 FI. Oz.
