FEBRUARY 11, 1976, PAGE 13 Alstar playoff action Local teams score victories in overtime thrillers Following are the results of recent Brooklin-Whitby Minor Hockey Association Allstar playoff games. MINOR PEEWEE After eliminating Bay Ridges in th'ree straight gatues, Aqualine Pools took a 1-0 lead in their best of seven series against Cobourg. They eliminated Bay Ridges 4-3 in the final game of the series on two-goal efforts by Charlie Mason and Derek Kotyluk. Jody Spurell replied for the losers. Aqualine Pools then open- ed their series against Cobourg with' a narrow 4-3 decision in a game played at Brooklin. Ron Maguire, Piaul Rich, Jeff Donaldson and Derek Kotyluk scored for the winners who hard pressed by Cobourg in the last few minutes. Pat Ryan, with two, and Greg Patton replied for the losers. MAJOR PEEWEE The Lasco Steelers lead their series with Ajax 2-0. In the opening game of the series, the Steelers scored a 5-3 victory on two goals by Lorne Bruce and singles by Bob Middleton, Dave Blacquiere and Warren Subject. Mike Rensly scored twice and Jeff Rogers once for the losers. In a thrilling second game, the Steelers 'overcame a 5-3 deficit and recorded an 8-5 vic tory in overtime. Sait Fish and Chips played to a 4-4 tie and Munn's Press and Lasco Steel fought to a 2-2 deadlock. 1-0 at the end of the first period and 2-0 early in the second before Whitby scored three unanswered goals to hold a 3-2 edge at the end of the second. Three quick third period goals by Ajax put them ahead once more but Whitby came back to tie the score with 48 seconds remaining. The host Steelers scored three times in over- time. Dale Kernohan and David Blacquiere each con- tributed a pair for the winners who got singles by Todd Chasczewski, Bob Middleton, Warren Subject and Lorne Bruce. -Mike Rensey and Jeff Rodgers each scored twice for the losers while Mike Owen scored once. MINOR BANTAM The Optimists Internation- al eliminated Cobourg in three straight games. In the second, the locals recorded a 5-0 victory. John Taylor and Ron Belich shared the shutout while Charlie Meitner scored twice and Darrel Blacquiere, Mark Underwood and Denis Fulton once each. Darrel Blacquiere scored a hattrick to lead the Optimists to a 4-1 win in the final game. Mark Underwood added a single for the winners while Ian Dowle replied for the losers. -Two's company, tbree's a crowd but this is ridiculous. In the first game, Cobourg blanked the locals 2-0 on shutout goaltending by Brad Wilson and Greg Kelly. Ralph Lewis and Mike Cyr provided the offensive punch. Cobourg scored a 3-1 victory in the second game. MINOR MIDGET Chris Littlemore scored the only goal of the game with 27 seconds remaining as Bay Ridges downed Mary Brown's 1-0 to take a 2-1 lead in the series. Dave Power picked up the shutout. MAJOR MIDGET Ferrco Engineering came from behind to defeat Lind- say 5-2 in overtime. Ferrco Engineering's Dean Seymour scored with three seconds left in the third period to send the game into overtime. Whitby had trailed 2-0 early in the third period before coming back to tie the score. Dean Seymour and AI McDonald each scored twice for the winners while Doug Shearer added a single. Dean McGregor and Gary Beoke- boom replied for the losers. However, Lindsay notched the best-of-three series at 1-1 when the teanis met in Lindsay as they scored an 8-4 decision.
