MAJOR ATOM Brooklin Concrete over- came a 2-0 third-period deficit to tie Ajax 2-2 as Paul Neuman and Martin Van Kessel scored for Brooklin and Bruce Beaton and Jeff Dalgarno for Ajax. Bobby Rints and Michael Muir shared the shutout as Dominion Caulking blanked Markham 2-0 on goals by Stuart Broll and Jeff Hanley. MINOR PEEWEE Aqualine Pools edged Cobourg 5-4 as Paul Rich scored the winner with four minutes remaining. Dan Gar- rard, Charlie Mason, Derek Kotyluk and Dan Middleton also scored for the winners. John Hutchings, Greg Patton, Bob Hilborn and Pat Ryan replied for the losers. MAJOR PEEWEE The Lasco Steelers down- ed Ajax 4-1 as Warren Subject scored twice and John Fusco and Stu Catterall once each. Tom Jackson replied for the losers. The Ontario Regiment Major Peewee Selects com- peted in a recent tournament in Beaverton, winning once and losing twice. In the opener, they were blanked 2-0 by Uxbridge who got shutout goaltending from Robert Makell and Kevin Risebrough and goals from Greg Paradine and Ken Marshall. They then trounced Orillia 7- on a hattrick by Lonnie Foskett and singles by Eric Wells, Ricky.McCoy, Randy Taylor and Mike Mowat. Tony Wanamaker replied for the losers. Little Britain then blanked Ontario Regiment on flawless netminding by Ivan Notting- ham and Tim Grills. Terry Jenkins scored twice and Ken. They have scored 43 times and have been scored Vaninger once each. Ontario Regiment then travelled to Markham where they were edged 2-1 on a two-goal effort by Dave Miller. Locals to compete at Wiinter Games Three Whitby girls, stu- dents at Henry Street High School, will be competing on the Eastern Region Volley- ball Teain at the Ontario Winter Games at Sault Ste. Marie Feb. 14 to 16. The girls a.re Fiona MacGregor, 146 Calais St., Nancy Winter, 14 Valley Court, and Heidi Waida, 210 Keith St., who are members of this team, who will also be going to the winter gaines, are Vicki Ball, of McLaughlin Collegiate iii Oshawa, and Janet Lovekin, of Clarke Figh School in Orono. The Oshawa JuniorLegion team won a tournament in Brighton Nov. 15, defeating 11 other teams from Whitby to Belleville and north to Peterborough, to gain the right to represent the eastern region. The Eastern Region tearm at the winter ganes will con- sist of 12 players: the five from the Oshawa Junior Legion Tearn; five fron the second place team, from Northumberland High School in Brighton, one fron Madoc and one from Belleville High School. The Eastern Region team will be competing against five other region teanis for the girls' volleyball championship at the winter garnes. The first place tean will receive a gold medal; second place, a silver medal; and third place a bronze medal. The three Whitby girls have played on Henry Street ligli School volleyball teams for the last four years, and have won the Grade Nine district championship, and the Junior and Senior COSSA championships. Last year the Senior COSSA team competed at the All-Ontario High School Volleyball Championships at Alliston, where it had seven wins, two ties and one loss. In their opening game, they trounced Kingston Township 5-4 on two goals by Eddie Derks and singles by Keith Wilson, Ray McWhirter and Gilbert Nieuwendyk.
