Free Press Photo Grand Jury upset The Grand Jury for the Durham Region is not pleased that few of its recommenda- tions for the improvement of the Region's court house are being carried out. "This Grand Jury is con- cerned that very few of the recommendations made in a previous Grand Jury report of September 15 and pre- vious juries have been acted upon", says a report made in November, "It appears absolutely nec- essary and urgent that Court Room number four should be completed immediately. All zeher three Court Roons are overtaxed", the Grand Jury stated. The Grand Jury expressed concern that the fire exit door at the east end of the building remains a hazard for emergency exit, and there nay be a hazard of falling bricks at the east and west ends of the building because of a need f3r masonry repair. The Grand Jury reported that Judge J. P. Kelly's office and chambers lack proper accommodation for books and filing, and the curtains and rug are "extremely dilapida- ted and we felt it doubtful that the curtains because of the many holes in them, could stand another dry cleaning job". The Grand Jury was not entirely critical of the court house facilities. Its members praised the quality of the food served in the cafeteria, and were impressed by the Cairn of Peace from the World Plowing Match, which was set up recently in front of the building. Anyone interested in canvassing to assist Mr. Hoffman in reaching this goal is asked to call Karen Kerr at 668-2244. Your Nearest Henry Buildail Mail to: W.F.
