The answer given is the Honourable Donald Irvine, Minister of Hous- ing. This statement is in- correct. The only people who can stop the build- ing of high rise apart- ments on the proposed site are the coun cil of the Town of Whitby, the people who zoned the property for high rise apartments in the first place. The council can do this in three ways: 1 . Refuse to issue a building permit. 2. Amend the plan of subdivision. 3. Expropriate the site for civic purposes. Ail th ree of these actions could result in court proceedings. Mayor. Newman stated to a delegation from West Lynde Subdivision that the Town had made a mistake and he received praise from a local week- ly for saying so. Having madle the mis- take the people who made it should correct it and flot blamne the Mini- ster of Housing for doing his job which is to pro- vide housing for people who need it at a cost which they can afford. On Heart disease the JAMA article remarked "Evidence is accumulat- ing that shows the ren-oval of fiber (such as bran is removed f romi white flour) from the diet raises cholesterol levels, a process that predisposes to coronary heart disease"'. (D.P. Burkitt M.D.) ln another article, "Prevention Magazine", (1,500,000 circulation) reports 1"paradoxically those nutrients for which bread is potentially a crucial, even unique source, are removed in the milling of white flour from wheat. Fibre, -pyridozine (B-6> and the essential fatty acids in wheat germ (source of vitamin E) are al remnoved and yet very few, if any, widely con- sumed foods can provide thesý. nutrients in conm- parable quantities".
