Iiis week Keith MacDon- ad, President of the. W.M.B. Aannounced that Doit Ken- nedy, Dean Keating,and Mike Pageau will be the convenors for the W.M.B.A. tyke, pee- tweç, bantam and midget- juvenile programns this sm mer. Kennedy, who is also vice- president of the local basebali organization, will hardly have timne to catch his breath as he switches from a hectic season as a hockey convener to take on the duties guiding the W.M.B.A. tyke group, the youngest playing organized bail in the W.M.B.A. pro- gram. These eight to 10 year olds played a 16 game schedule in '74 followed by a round robin playoff in a ten club league which had a busy summer in the schedule which extended from June until September. Before playing, in the tyke group boys who are six and seven play in the tee-bail division where they play the modified version of the game without pitchers. Dean Keating, who takes over the reins as convenor of the peewee group, coached a club in the tee-baIl group hast season and is also active in local hockey. The '74 con- venor, George Hobin, is going to assist the new peewee head when needed. Last season eight clubs competed in the W.M.B.A. House League for peewees in a highly successful season, capped. by a thrilling playoff series. For the past three seasons, Mike Pageau has headed up the W.M.B.A. bantam-mîdget league which is going to have a new look this season with the formation of a separate bantam loopi and a new mid- A get-juvenile grouping to pro. Pageau has done an outstanding job with the old- er boys in past seasons and these latest plans should be welcome news for the-many players who exit from midget ranks this year but who want/ to continue playing. Whitby Firefighters and Mowat Insurance will battie it out for the 'A'champîon- ship; Nurse Chev.Olds and Koke Shehh will mneet in the 'B' finals; and Rider Too I and Manufacturing and Peter the Plumber wiIl fight for the 'C' tithe. The major atomn's leading scorer during the regular sea- son was Paul Shaubel while Greg Gibson won the playoff scoring race. The most recent action saw Whitby Firefighters dump Peter the Plumber 7-4, Koke Sheil defeated Rider Tool and Manufacturing 4-1 and Mowat Irsurance and Nurse G-iev.Olds fought to a 3-3 draw. The Firefighters, whose success can be largely attri- buted to the outstanding goaltending of Dean Barry, got two goals from Wayne Misslebrook and singles from Ian Porter, Larry Rich, Mark Robitaile, Don Wade and Brian Schroer in their victory. Greg Gibson fired a hattrick for the losers while Jim Mulligan picked up a single. Koke Shehi got goals from Steve McGary, Ken Lynde, Mark Mara and Russell Lewis en route to their 4-1 victiry. Paul Shaubel replied for the losers. Scoring for Mowat Insur- ance in the tie were Mark Petrie, Brent Lindberg and Kelvin Mask. Doug Mc'Don- aid fired a pair for Nurse Chev-Olds while Jeremy Blaker scored a single.
