The 1975 Executive are as follows: Bill Burgess, Treasurer; Fred Daw, Chairmnan; Barb Forsyth; Betty Gardiner, Publicity; Ted HerQn; Jean* Johnston; Gail Kozyreacky; Cora Nickelchok; Heather Richardson; Ethel Rutledge; and Samn Hollingsworth, Secre- tary. Theýr first project is to once againi ask Coundil for funds to be alocated for the purchase of parkland in that part of North Whitby. I could be wrong, but 1 have the idea that money was set aside for just such a project last year..whatever happened to it? I had t.he feeling that it was ail part of the big splurge in the North Ward..you know, the swimming pool in Brooklin, tennis courts in Brooklin, and a park up in Ashburn. Perhaps I was dreamn- ing, but I know that I printed something on that topic. Anyway good luck to the Ashburn people ... Id be inter- ested in knowinghow you get on. A Ping Pong Tournament is being planned, to take place during the March Break. Any young people who are inter- ested in such a project please cail Heather Richardson. 1 noticed a group of people having a wonderful time on some ice along Thickson Road. They really seemned to be enjoying theinselves out in the fresh air, and it obviously didn't cost themn anything except a littie enthusiasm. Don't we have any such patches of ice up here in the North Ward, that could be used by our young people. Obviously I'm not advocating deep areas of water that are slightly frozen over. But lets face it, a wide area with just a couple of inches in depth could make a super open air ice rink that would be quite safe. 1 thought we used to have a few places like that in the North Ward..and if they are stili being used then let me know..so that I cari tell the rest of the North Ward.
