For Whomi the Bell Touls The old adage about little cildren being seen and flot heard should be applied more soundly today tlian ever before whien it cornes to telephones. We are quite sure that Alexander Grahiam Bell did flot go to the trouble and expense to invent the telephione just so his kids would hýdve a new toy to play with.' We are also quite sure the Bell Telephione did flot institute a very de- pendable system of cross-Canadla telecommunications for the use of kids to amuse themiselves and to annoy others but that indeed sems to be whiat is happening these days. Dear Sir: The ladies of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church would appreciate it very much if you could mention the fol- lowing event in your paper T[le incidence (of nuisance catIs is very niuch on the îin- c 'rease. I matters not to these kids who has been dragged to the phone ini response to their caîl - it could be an elderl>' per- son who lias to struggle up a flighît of stairs or a housewife who was bus>' in the basemient doing laundry or a harried businessman whosc probleiris for the ,day are great enough next week. Sinicerelv, Your Ilurane Society without listcning to the silly remarks of bored, kids. The real culprits are the parents who haven't taken e- nough interest in their kids and a responsible attitude towards the phone cornpany and the service they provide to educate their kids as to the right way and the wrong way to use the telephone. The telephone, is a very necessary service that flot only provides convenience but saves lives, reports disasters and is depended on by thousands daily. It should flot be abused by anyone, especially bored kids. Horticul tu rai Socl*ety The Brooklin Horticultur- al Society' held their October meeting on Wednesday with over 50 people present.
