Many will be venturing out for the first time while others are experienced "saîts" who have mastered the art of seamanship. Regrettably, accidents will occur and more than 300 of these people will drown and many more1 will be injured. The large majority of these accidents will be the result f a p o e e s I * a a s a s I s a a a a a I a a a I I of three basic causes: (1) Lack 'of knowledge or skill - people who d o not know the risks involved or who are nQ.t. sufflciently skil- led to cop e (2) Physâical' 1r mental in- capability - fatigue', handi- capped, overexertion or over- indulgence in alcohol, (3) Improper attitudes - the daredevils and show-offs, or the experienced who become blase.
