MOTORING..... Dan Gumey, one of the most versatile drivers in auto racing, returns to Mosport Park for the Labatt's Blue Can-Am weekend, June 14-15-16. Gurney who was a favorite among Canadian auto racing fans through the 1960's has since become one of the lead- ing race car builders and designers. A product of his work will be featured in the Labatt's Formula 5000 race, Satur- day, June 15 - the first half of a weekend doubleheader. Through his All-American Racers,.Gurney will unveil three new Eagles in the Formula 5000 event to be driven by Brett Lunger, Garcia Vega and Elliott Forbes. Lunger, a hard charging American driver is among the favbrites in the Formula 5000 series which opens June 2 at Mid-Ohio. Gurney, who last year saw 19 of his Eagles start in a field of 33 for the Indy 500 in predicting a close tough race for the Labatt's Formula 5000. "I feel the competition will be really tough for that event as all indications point toward top rate machinery entering the race," said the 43-year-old Gurney. While Gurney is expecting stiff competition, his own cars have been burning up the track at Riverside, Calif., during recent test sessions. Many people are expecting the Formula 5000 cars to equal or break the Mosport lap record of 1:15.2. During his racing career, Gurney starred in the Can-Am series and is particularly remembered for his close victory over Jackie Oliver at Mosport in 1970 - the only time Gurney won at the Ontario track. His final GP victory was in 1967 at Belguim, winning in a car of his own design. First Female To Head B. B. Bureau Promotion to General Manager of the Ottawa-Hull Better Business Bureau effec- tive May lst has established Ms. Edith Huggins as the first female General Manager of any Better Business Bur- eau in Canada. Previously assistant to retiring manager, H. Wheatley deRoche, Ms. Huggins is a graduate of the BBB Management course sp- onsored by the Council of Better Business Bureaus, Washington, D.C. and has been involved in Bureau ac- tivities for 12 years. Ms. Huggins is well known in the Ottawa-Hull area as a spokesman for maintaining mutually satisfactory consu- mer/business relationships through the efforts of the Better Business Bureaus, "1 will always be a believer in self-regulation and self- discipline - especially when it cornes to consumer protec- tion through sound business practice" she says. Raised and educated in Ottawa, Ms. Huggins pursu- ed a career in a ladies fash- ions store as an assistant buyer before her marriage. While raising two sons she joined the Ottawa-Hull Bet- ter Business Bureau in 1962. "I have great expectations for all the Better Business Bureaus in Canada, and es- pecially in Ottawa-Hull where the Better Business Bureau has a great role to play. It only requires that we in- crease the visibility of the BBB and positively get our message across." Ms. Huggins describes her- self as a "positive" person, and of her co-workers at. - the Bureau she said, "It's a co-operative effort from th'e Board of Directors right on down to the staff manning the telephones - we're a team, 100%!" The Ottawa-Hull Bureau has been in operation for 36 years and is one of the 12 Bureaus which operate as a network in Canada with co-ordination through the national headquarters, the Bettér Business Bureau of Canada. Retiring General Manager H.
