Every time yeu turned on the television or went to the movies there were naked bodies flotincing aIl over but, gasp, new they have invaded the public dornain. Cal it wbatever namne you cheosel, streaking is, if you'll pardon, barely here and already it's a roaring success. Except at Henry Street High Sehool anyway. The way 1 hecar it the streaker bit a dead end and wcund up in a closet. It's a damn sharne hew amateurs everun everything. This young mnanrinay have hiad the best of intentions but bis escape plan was absolu tely rot ten. 1 guess bis running left a lot te be desired tee and brash fulîness hie just didn't have. A 1professional streaker svculd hiave known die escape is just as important as the actual streak. Whien yeu think about it anv fool cani expose imiiself and run around like a îurkey at Thanksgiving but enly a streaker can pull off the wvhole routine wih gsto and style and get away. Obviously there's more to si reaking ilhan nmeets the eve. Just running through a crowd isni't geod enouigh unless yen have a getaway planned and rendezvous with your clothes. This is assuming that you don't want te streak cff into the suinsei like Tomi Mix. It's aise abvicus the terni is new even rthcughi degenier- ates aren't. istory mighit have taken a different course if there bad been this farnous saying '- To streak, or net te streak, that is the naked question." Or how about Juliet, standing in yen windew askitîg, "Romee, eh Romieo, where art thon Romeo?" And from a bystander, 'Romeo art streaking tbrougb the lien pen at the forum, love." Who kncws, streaking rnay yet affect history. l'mi waiting for tricky Dick te, get Up in front cf bcth is fans, and with the dignity that belongs te the President lie will say, "My fellow Americans, let me make this perfectly clear, I amn the President and I say this streaking stuff must corne te a halt. lt's bad for the eccncmy, knicker sales are down, and besides it's almost impossible te plant a bug on somnebody wvhe isn't wearing any clothes." If iMark Spitz bad streaked te bis aquatic victory would we have loved imii as rnucb? Don't answer that girls. 0f course if Custer bad streaked it might net have been bis last stand. He could have gotten away while the indians were busy closing their mouths. And how about Florence Nightingale?? If sbe lhad streaked on bier rounds the miracle cf niedicine migbt have been more noticeable. for the nerve wouldn't hurt either. Footwear is optional but I would sincericly suggest a pair cf Captain Flash rnning shoes as fleet of foot is cf primie imnportance. The one thing yon'Ill really need - miake that twe things- is fi rst, a fooîproof escape plan and the second is bail money in case the first tumns eut net te be focîproof. After yen figure eut your escape plan make sure your clothes are witbin easy reacb, and yet bidden in case some wino comes along and tbinks Santa bias left him a belated clothing parcel. Many a streaker has made good bis escape only to nearly freeze te death while Iooking for bis stolen clothing. Last but net Ieast run quickly, but mun proudly, chest eut and head high in the true tradition cf the greatest streaker of them al.......Lady Gediva.
