It's too easy to get carried away ini the claud of excit- ment and nilmeraus festivities and forget to give thanlks ta God for our many mercies. And we ALL have something ta be thankful for. We can be thankful we have roaves over aur heads regardless af whether we have aur OWN roof, or whe- ther aur roof is somebody else's floar. We can also give thanks for having food ta eat. It really daesn't mnatter whether if's hamburger or steak, at least we are eating ......some are nat. To prove ouir point, we did a stîrvey last week (Dec. 1 2) chioosîing tlhe top Oshawa and Ajax weekly niewspapers. We cotinted te e num ber of Whitby stories ini eaich paper. The forty page Oshawa paiper, althougli a fie paper, carried only seven Whitby stories. The Ajax publlicaltîi, iaother good newspaper, cairried only 1l Whitby stories iii 20 pages. Meanwhile last week's edition of the Whithy Uree Press carried over 20 Whitby stories, tiot counting columns or editorials, in only 12 pages. So (>bviously although our number of pages are LESS, we are giving our readers MORE local coverage. And this we feel is the function of a comm- unity newspaper.
