'[le teamns participating ini the '[oumnament in addition to our entry were froni Belleville, Cornwall, Kingston, Orillia, Oshawa, Peterborough and T[renton. The first round found the C.B.C. boys pitted against Oshawa's Parkway T.V. and at the end of regulation tume the score was tied at 2 ail. B.W.'s goals were scored b>' Mike Rowley. In between the 3rd period and the beginn- ing of overtime, B.W. coaches stressed the importance of hustle and desire. These instructions were taken to heart by Ron Beettam, who outraced an Oshawa defencemen to pick up a clearing pass and waltzed ini ail alone and scored the winning goal. In the last minute of overtime play, Oshawa pulled their goalie in an effort to gain the equal- izer, but the B.W. boys were not to be denied, for the last haîf minute they kept Oshawa hemmed in their own end to clinch the victory. In their second round draw against Cornwall, the C.B.C. crew had an easier time defeating Cornwall by a score of 4 to O. 'The shut out was earned by goalie Paul Ravary, Who, while he did not have too much work, did corne up with several key saves to preserve the shut out. The B.W. scoring was handled by Ron Beettain, Glenn Kinzie, Mike Rowley and Ed Szczur. The Kingston team carried their hitting game into the 3rd period and gradually wore the B.W. boys, wbo gave it ail they had but found theniselves outscored in this period 6 goals to 1. '[le B.W. lone goal came froni the stick of Glenn Atkinson. Final score of the game was Kingston 7, B.W. 3. In each game, medals were presented to the three stars, gold for 1Ist, silver for 2nd, and bronze for 3rd. Medal winners for B.W. were Mike Rowley with a gold and 2 bronze, Larry Grahamn a silver and a bronze and Paul Ravary a gold. Whitby 'Y" Badminton CI- ub played host to eight clubs frorn the central Ontario Badminton Association. '[his 'B' Tournament att- racted a very large entry especially ini the mnen's and ladies' singles. Men's Singles winner was Greg Hill of the Sydenhanm Club, coached b>' Major Hill (Royal Military College). Se- cond spot also, went to a Sydenhami memiber, Rusty Bassarab. Ladies' Singles winner was Judy Pultz of Belleville, with runner-up going to Fern Jo- hannson of Oshawa. Marsh Slessor and Ralph Jennings teamed up to defeat fellow 'Whitbyites' Bill Ush- er and Ron McGratli in the Men's Doubles. The Ladies' Doubles was domninated by Judy Pultz, and Judy Woodley of Belle- ville wîth Marg Smith and May Mcllroy of Whitby tak- ing second place honours. The mixed Doubles win- ner was the team of Greg Hill and Karen Huffman, who beat out Doreen Holding and Ralph Jennings. A dinner and dance was held at the conclusion of the T'ournament at the Regal Room in the Centennial Bui- lding. Pete Stephenson, pre-, sident of the C.O.B.A., pre- sented the awards.
