The Whitby Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, patrol the southern haîf of Ontario Cou nty withi the exception~ of those municipalities with their own Police Departments. Here are the weekly statistics for this anea. Durng the week of November 1 2th to I 8th, officers of Whitby Detachment logged approximately 18,500 miles patrolling Provincial, County and Township roads. 29 collisions were investigated in which 18 pensons were ini- jured, and property damage amnounted to $17,900. 24 persons have been killed 0o1 area noads this year as compar- ed to 20 for the previous yean. Duning thie week, officers investigated 118 occunrences of a general nature. ACCIDENTS On Thunsday, November 15, 1973, at 4:45 p.m., a 1968 Ford Pick-up operated by Edward Wilson, age 34, 455 Scugog St., Port Perry, was ini a head-on collision with a 1963 Chevrolet, driveiî by Raymond la ke, age 19, of Trenton. Both drivers and two passengers in the Lake vehicle were taken to Port Perry Hospital. The Wilson vehicle was northbound on Union Street and collided with the Lake vehicle wliich was southbound on John Street. Lake was charged with fail to yield and no insurance as a resuit of the accident. Investigated by Constable Gary Miller. G ENERAL OCCURRENCES On Wednesday at 2-:34 a.m. a report of a stolen auto was neceived from the Lansdowne Plaza area of Northi Osliàîwa. The following morning a report was received of a light standard being hit at Durham College. At 3:40 p.m. the vehicle, a 1966 Chevrolet was found abandoned in Harmony Creek with extensive damage. On Thursday, at 8:30 a.m., Mr. Dale Young, 60 Hiley Avenue, Pickering, reported a break-in at his residenice and the theft of two rings valued at $225.00. The matter is unden investigation by Constable Gerry Gibson. On Thursday, at 1:00 p.m., a report was received from Durham College of a pocket calculator valued at $1 00.00, being stolen fromn a student. On Friday at 4:00 p.m., ianother report was received of the theft of a purse valued at $40.00. On Friday, at 10:30 a.m., Mr. Roy Brown, of Raglan, neported a bréak-in at his house in which 4 wolf skins valued at $250.00 were stolen. Constable Gerry Gibson is invest- igating the matter. On Saturday, at 1:00 a.m., a report was received that vandals had thrown a beer bottle through a window at 53 Lincoln Avenue, Pickering. During the week, officens laid 220 charges under the Highway Traffic Act and il charges under the Liquor Control Act. 14 persons were given breathalyzen tests resulting in 9 impaired driving charges. m
