The majority of accidents involving cliildren are caused by the child running onto the road. Take extra care when approaching a schiool zone -- slow down. At scliool crossings and, ini major centres, pedestrian cross- overs, yield right of way to pedestrians in the crossWalk. Remember, it is dangerous and unlawful to pass a veliicle within 100 feet of a pedestrian crossover. Watch those school buses! Don't overtake a sehool bus whiich is stopped on the highway and bas it's red signal lights flashing. It is receiving or discharging passen- gers. If you meet a school bus picking up or discharging passengers on a highway other than one with a median strip, you must stop until the bus resumes motion or its signal lights are no longer operating. Almost half of the pedestrians injured last year in Ontario were in the 14 - and - under age group. 3,767 children were injured, and another 108 were killed on our roads and highways.
