In the soc- iety as it exists there is a trend towards the separation of people mostly ini categor- jes of age. Institutions do not enhance the idea of com- mwiity so that people tend to lose interest in both them- selves and others. With the emphasis on person to per- son contact within groups and via some programming we would like to see brought together people who do flot otherwise have, the opport- unity to meet one another. ihis would bring about one of our main objectives which is to remnain young at heart. The means by which we see this being accomplished include: an adopted grand- parent-grandchild plan; com- munity programs for Fair- view Lodge residents and psy- chiatric patients (visits, frien- dships, excursions and so on) and an interested volunteer organization. The project will stem ma- inly from a house "Our H. ouse" which represents and hopes to give a homey atmos- phere. There will be eleven local participants in the pro- ject, the geriatrix wards at the psychiatric hospital, mem bers of Fairview Lodge, vol- unteers, younger children as weil as other people who wiIt be directly involved.
