COURT REPORT "This is a case where a Bench Warrant was issued before the man appeared in'Court," Provincial Court Judge H.W. Jermyn said in the Wbitby Court as he fined James Lenki 42, of Toronto $200. of 20 days in jail. 'Ibe fine was made peremptory wbicb means it has to be paid- before the man could leave the Court or go to jail. Instructions were given by the court that Mr. L- enkei be permitted to make a telephone cail in order that the location of his whereabouts is known. He had pleaded guilty to the charge of drunk driving. On April 7th as the accused Lenkei drove tbrough Pickering Township he was seen near the Pickering Weigb Scales driving east on Highway 401 in an erractic manner. Provincial Police Constable Burns of the Whitby Detach- ment saw the car drive over onto the south shoulder of the éastbound lane. Moments later he saw it swerve across the eastbound lane of 401 into the median. It then lurched back onto the pavement and straddled the two driving lanes. As Provincial Constable Burns tried to bring the erratically driven car to a haIt he saw brakes being applied as other cars were forced to apply their brakes in order to avoid motor vebicie accidents. When the accused was finally stopped and a breatb test reading taken there was the indication tbat there was .18 percent alcohiol in the blood at that time. Mr. Lenkei, a delivery man, was under arrest when he appeared in the Whitby Court. His driver's license was suspended for the mandatory term of at least three months. The reading indicated there was .16 percent alcohol ini the blood stream. Crown Attorney Affleck stated the youtb realizes that he has this problem and it would be to bis benefit to seek help in sorne form to help him overcome his problem.
