N e w Atemporary halt has been called to the proposed Rossland Road Municipal Com- plex. The halt called by the Ontario Municipal Board, will mean any con- tract between the town and builder i s p en ding while the tovwn re-ad- vertises to dis- pense with a vote of the electors on the project. Changes in ad- vertised cost fig- ures are respon- sible for the sec- ond publication of the notice to dis- pense with a vote of the electors. The total sum of the cost of both buildings was re- duced by town council but the municipal building was increased by $156, 238. The re- duced overall fig- ure for both buil- dingswas reached b y a decrease of $156, 265. Building The municipal building, if ap- proved by OMB, wil cos t $653, 5 3 8 but the town will be abl e to off- set thisby sub- tracting $275, 000, the sum that will be charged the library board for taking over the present town hall. The estimated cost of the police building is $294, 235, and the total cost wh ich must be debentured to con- struct both build- ings is $672, 773. L y nde House on H i g hway # 2 just west of d'hillier Park, was first used f or township meetings as early as the year 1808, and it was on that property th a t the famed Queen's Plate was run in 1870. The local LIPgroup, Communi ty Con- science played a very instrumental role in the chain of events th a t led to the final turning over of the house by Lob- laws.
