Along with this sudden surge tow- ard a race of 'beautiful people', comes the ne e d for a woman to acquire that glowing, 'natural look' we hear so much about. She wantssto appear as if the glow in her cheeks was put there by the sun and fresh air, rather than by a brush. Matural Beauty Aids Just a s we are turning more toward na tural, organic foods, today's woman is s t a rting to use natural beauty aids. When the pioneer woman in early Can- a d a wanted a face-pack or a skin soft- ener, she had to make them herself out o f w h a t she had at home. Needless to say, thesewerepractical, natural aids, and m os t of the things she used can be found in most kitchens today. For A Jngle ath i Th i s first 'aid' was actually in use thousands of years before the pioneers, in the days of ancient Egypt, and is a herb bath. Take equal portions of rose- mary, mintandthyme, and put them, to- g e t her with orange and lemon peelings i n t o a p i ece of gauze or cheesecloth. M ak e a bag by tying the ends together with string, then hang it in the bathtub. Run the bath water as hot as you possi- bly can, then let it sit (with the herb- b ag still i n it) until it is just cool en- ough for you to sit in it. Soak for about 1 5 - 2 0 minutes i n the tub, or until the w a te r i s just tepi d, and you will feel very tingly and refreshed. The Oatmeal Pack N o w y o u c an concentrate on your face. A really good facial, that is eff- e c t ive on all types of skin, is the oat- meal pack. Take a small portion of oat- meal and mix itwith water to form a thick paste, then pat all over the face and neck. Leave for about ten minutes, or un t il completely dry, then wash off withwarm water. Sounds messy, does- nit it,ý but any minor discomfort you may experience is well worth it. Simply take two or three egg whites, and beat them with a spoonful of powdered milk, until they a r e very thick and foamy. The amount of time you leave this egg-pack on your face depends upon how much you want it to do. If you have sagging skin, or your face is very oily, and you want to tight- en it up, just leave the pack on for ab- o u t 8 or 10 minutes. If you have wrin- k I es, leave it on for about twenty min- u t e s . T h e egg white mixture tightens your skin so well that it actually 'pulls out' the wrinkles. This mixture should not be left on for more than half an hour, b e c ause after that it will be too harsh an d w ill 1 pull 1 too much, causing dis- comfort, and possibly damage your skin. Milk Compress for A Bright Complexion I f y ou r sk in is in pretty good con- d i t ion, but just needs 'brightening up' a li t t l e, here is the most basic one of all. Take strips of cloth and soak th' inmilk, then place them oj*er the enti1fe face, almost like a compress, and leave them for 5 or 10 minutes. This refreshes y o u, and makes your face appear more alive looking. Once your f a ce has taken on that healthy glow, use transparent powder, and the new 'gel' lipsticks and blushers to let your face shine through.
