A happy combina- tion of young and not -so-young Whitbyites danced on an open invat- ion from the town recreation depart- ment till midnight, and the s p a c ious hall echoed with I aughter and mus- ic. Despite late no- t i ce of the open- to- the-public dance, the hall1 was im- pressively filled. Included in the r o und of dancers were: Pol ice Chief Pilkington and his at trac tive wife, Mr. & Mrs. Gerry Gelette, Host Tom Beckett and wife, Mr. & Mrs. Deputy-Clerk Cuddy, and a beam- ing Deputy Reeve John Goodwin and his wife. Mr. Goodwin was c h a i r man comm- i t tee of the new pavilion. Friends from ne ighbour ing mun- icipalities includ- ed Mr. & Mrs. Harry Peleshok from Ajax. Notable 'stags' at, the social eve- ning w e r e Mayor Des Newman and Councillor Vern MacCarl. Ail in attendance w e r e f avourably impressed with t h e i r new facili- ties, and itwas with a tincture of humour that one or two worried mot- h e r ' s n oted that the $110, 000 rec- r e a t 1io n complex did not i n cl ude a pay telephone to check with their babysitters. 77?EVQ/? 171F QAO 7q~/C 8C/&~ QI MEé? you />urr/iw mf l /?
